Authorizing the Horticulture Department at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory to apply for a grant of up to $400 from the Mid-America Orchid Congress for the purchase of orchid plants in the year 2013.

WHEREAS, the Mid-America Orchid Congress offers a yearly grant of up to $400.00 for the purpose of orchid conservation; and
WHEREAS, the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory would utilize this grant money to purchase species orchids to add to our existing Neo-tropical orchid collection; and
WHEREAS, the City is not expected to match the grants funds; and
WHEREAS, the City believes that accepting this grant of up to $400.00 is a benefit to the citizens of Saint Paul as it allows for a greater number of orchids to be seen in the public displays at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the city council authorizes the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory to apply for a grant of up to $400.00 from the Mid-America Orchid Congress for the purchase of species orchids in the year 2013; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to enter into any agreements necessary to accept such funds if awarded.
