Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to request and, if approved, accept a grant in the amount of $25,000 from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to initiate ecological restoration of 30 acres of flood plain forest at Crosby Farm Regional Park.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has obtained funding through the Lessard-Sams Conservation Partners Legacy grant program for activities that restore or enhance habitat for fish, game, or wildlife on lands permanently protected by conservation easement or public ownership; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like to request $25,000 in grant funding to enhance 30 acres of flood plain forest at Crosby Farm Regional Park; and
WHEREAS, a site specific management plan will be implemented for this forest restoration that will work to increase connectedness of high quality forests, reduce sedimentation of impaired water bodies, and improve habitat for wildlife; and
WHEREAS, if funded, the grant agreement will require that the City indemnify the State, its agents and employees from any claims or causes of action arising from performance of the grant agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that acceptance of the grant will serve a public purpose; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the proper City officials to apply for, and if approved, enter into such agreements as are necessary to accept the funding.
