Accepting the gift of conference registration fees, lodging costs, and travel expenses, not to exceed $1,054.30, from the Springboard for the Arts, for Joe Spencer to attend the Art Basel Conference in Miami, Florida, December 4 - 6, 2011.

WHEREAS, the Art Basel Conferencein Miami, Florida is scheduled for December 4-6, 2011, and Joe Spencer, Mayor Chris Coleman's Arts and Culture Director for the City of Saint Paul, has been invited to attend as a representative of the City of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, Joe Spencer's attendance at this will serve a public purpose in allowing him to meet with other people in his field to discuss policies and programs around leveraging Saint Paul's creative communities for economic vitality; and
WHEREAS, Springboard for the Arts, with funding from new national funder, ArtPlace, has offered to pay the expenses for his attendance at the event and related travel; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts the gift of conference registration fees, lodging costs, and travel expenses for the Art Basel Conference and appropriates it to the intended use for Joe Spencer to attend the conference, and thanks Springboard for the Arts for their generous gifts.
