Amending the financing and spending plans in the Fire Department in the amount of $1,055,454.54 to accept the 2021 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) to provide turnout gear, paramedic training, Blue Card training, Fit to Thrive training, and physical exams for firefighters.
Body
WHEREAS, the Fire Department has received a grant of $1,161,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters Grant program which has a federal share of $1,055,454.54 and a 10% matching fund contribution of $105,454.46 to provide turnout gear, paramedic training, Blue Card training, Fit to Thrive training, and physical exams for firefighters; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved the grant application on Resolution 21-1754 on December 8, 2021; and
WHEREAS, federal law requires a 10% matching fund contribution of 105,545.46 will be paid from the Fire Department's budget; and
WHEREAS, the financing and spending plans have not been established for the grant received; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $1,055,454.54 in excess of those estimated in the 2022 budget: now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the changes to the 2022 budget as specified in the attached financial analysis.
