Approving the second year of the Office of Justice Programs grant funding for the City Attorney's Office Crime Victim Services.

 

Body

WHEREAS, The Office of Justice Programs of the US Department of Justice has granted $139,767 to the City Attorney’s Office , through the Crime Victim Services program, in 2017 for the purpose of providing services to crime victims, and

WHEREAS, the City Attorney’s Office was awarded a $139,767 grant to expand services to the most vulnerable, often underserved victims of domestic violence, and elder and vulnerable adult abuse victims, and

WHEREAS, the spending plans for these monies include hiring two victim-witness specialists to implement outreach to underserved populations, as well as provide direct services and support to victims going through the court process, and  

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.7.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriations funds of  $139,767 in excess of those estimated in the 2017 budget and recommends the changes to the 2017 budget described in the attached financial analysis;

NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE City Council accepts the grant and approves the changes to the 2017 Adopted Budget, and be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, that said budget, as heretofore adopted by the City Council is hereby amended as indicated in the attached fiscal analysis form.
