Recognizing the Youth and Families of the 2024-25 Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Basketball League

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is committed to providing accessible and inclusive recreation opportunities for youth through the Free Sports Initiative, ensuring all children have the chance to participate in organized athletics regardless of financial barriers; and
WHEREAS, the 2024-25 Saint Paul Parks Basketball League saw incredible participation, with 95 teams competing across various age groups, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and community engagement; and
WHEREAS, 20 teams from Saint Paul proudly represented the city at the Recreation State Basketball Tournament, showcasing their dedication, hard work, and competitive spirit; and
WHEREAS, four Saint Paul teams achieved championship titles in their respective divisions:
? Frogtown Hustlers - 6th Grade Boys Tier I Champions
? Dayton’s Bluff Vipers - 7th Grade Boys Tier II Champions
? Wilder Wildcats - 8th Grade Boys Tier I Champions
? MLK Kings - 9/10th Grade Boys Tier II Champions; and
WHEREAS, two teams demonstrated outstanding performance as finalists in their divisions:
? Frogtown Get Buckets - 6th Grade Boys Tier I Finalists
? Highland Park Community Center Sharks - 8th Grade Boys Tier I Finalists; and
WHEREAS, two teams earned third-place finishes in their divisions, displaying perseverance and skill:
? Wilder Wildcats - 6th Grade Girls Third Place
? Highland Park Community Center Columbia Blue - 6th Grade Boys Tier I Third Place; and
WHEREAS, the success of the Saint Paul Parks Basketball League would not be possible without the dedication of players, families, coaches, and staff who contribute to creating a positive and enriching environment for youth sports in our city; now, therefore, be it
