Authorizing the purchase of food and beverages for Police Department ceremonies and events in 2014.
Body
WHEREAS, the chief of the Saint Paul Police Department, Thomas E. Smith, recognizes and acknowledges police employees for their outstanding achievements and exemplary dedication to public services; and
WHEREAS, recognition ceremonies are held throughout the year at various places and time including but not limited to: Medal of Valor, Chief's Award, Employee of the Year, the promotion of employees; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department promotes, participates and organizes events such as Police Athletic/Activities League events and National Night Out; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose of the ceremonies and events is that the city council and mayor deem it important to recognize the commitment and dedication to public service of the city's police employees and commitment to essential community activities; and
BE IT ORDERED, that pursuant to the 2014 city budget , the proper city official(s) are hereby authorized to remit an amount not to exceed $12,000 to cover expenses including food, beverages and room rental incurred from the above various ceremonies and events during 2014.
A copy of said order is to be kept on file and of record in the Office of Financial Services.
