Authorizing the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to purchase food for educational programs.

WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Education offers fee based programs to raise dollars for operating programs; and
WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Education uses a number of Saint Paul businesses to provide food for the birthday party, discovery series, family classes, programs for 3s, small sprouts and Camp Como programs; and
WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Education programs for 2019 generated a revenue of over $260,000 and provided valuable educational programming for thousands of youth and families; and
WHEREAS, providing food for these programs has helped increase attendance and participation, as well enhance the educational components of the programming, thereby providing a public benefit to the residents of Saint Paul; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Education Department is authorized to purchase food items and to pay companies who provide food for educational programs that have demonstrated to provide benefits to the public in an amount not to exceed $10,000.
