Authorizing the City Attorney's Office to accept a gift of $1,874.75 for airfare, lodging, meals and other transportation expenses for Mike Seasly to attend the Domestic Violence Training Instructor Program in Coeur D' Alene, Idaho from May 2 - 6, 2011 to improve prosecution and policing policies and improve understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence.

WHEREAS, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) is an agency of the Department of Homeland Security; and
WHEREAS, the FLETC has a state and local training component which provides tuition-free training to participants of the criminal justice system; and
WHEREAS, the FLETC is putting on a Domestic Violence Training Instructor Program beginning on May 2, 2011 and ending on May 6, 2011, at the Coeur D'Alene Police Department in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; and
WHEREAS, the FLETC has invited Michael Seasly, Supervisor of the Saint Paul City Attorney's Office Domestic Unit, to attend the training program; and
WHEREAS, the FLETC will pay for the airfare, five (5) nights lodging, meals, and other transportation expenses in the amount of $1,874.75 attend the program; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council finds that the attendance at such training will assist in improving prosecution and policing policies, and lead to an improved understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul accepts the gift of airfare, lodging, meals and other transportation expenses, appropriates these to the intended use for Michael Seasly to attend the conference, and thanks the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center for its generous gift.
