Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant in the amount of $6,378 from State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety for forensic sciences improvement.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) wishes to enter into a grant agreement with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs for the National Forensic Sciences Improvement 2017 in the amount of $6,378 for a term of January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the grant funding will help support the continuing education and training for the Forensic Service unit technicians and examiners; and
WHEREAS, the 2017 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $6,378 in excess of those estimated in the 2017 budget and recommends the changes as follows; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves these changes to the 2017 budget.
