Amending Council File RLH AR 25-40 to delete the assessment for Collection of Delinquent Garbage Bills for services during October to December 2024 at 715 HOPE STREET. (File No.CG2502A2, Assessment No. 250114)

 

Body

WHEREAS on May 14, 2025, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul adopted Council File No. RLH AR 25-40, said Resolution being the Ratification of Assessment for Collection of Delinquent Garbage Bills for services during October to December 2024. (File No.CG2502A2, Assessment No. 250114); and

 

WHEREAS, the property at 715 Hope Street, being described as: Schurmeier and Evans Addition to St. Paul S 34 Ft of N 72 Ft of Lots 1 and 2 and of the E 9 14/100 Ft of Lot 3 Blk 1, with the property identification number 32-29-22-11-0002 was assessed an amount of $154.45; and

 

WHEREAS, Public Works staff recommends deleting the assessment because property owner became ill in 2023 and, due to her declining health, was rarely residing at the home until passing away in June 2025. Throughout this time, the property experienced multiple issues with trash service. Specifically, there was no service cart available, even though the property owner attempted to request a replacement. Despite this lack of service, Waste Management continued to bill the property for the full 96-gallon service; and

 

WHEREAS, the Legislative Hearing Officer recommends deleting the assessment, not because of the illness and death of the property owner, but because of the issue with the cart situation from previous hauler was inaccurate and was not sent to the city; Now, Therefore, Be It

 

RESOLVED, that the reduction of $154.45, plus any accrued interests, be deleted.  Council File No. RLH AR 25-2 is hereby amended to reflect this change.
