Designating the 2011 Lemonade Day as a Community Event.
 
Body
WHEREAS, Lemonade Day is a national community based event created by Prepared 4 Life and brought to the Twin Cities by the Liemandt Foundation; and
 
WHEREAS, Lemonade Day is a free citywide event designed to teach Twin Cities youth how to start, own and operate their own lemonade business; and
 
WHEREAS, on Lemonade Day, thousands of budding entrepreneurs set up lemonade stands-providing an opportunity for business and families to partner together to train the next generation of entrepreneurs through a fun, family activity; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is a sponsor of Lemonade Day and supports the goal of building confidence and self-esteem in children; and
 
WHEREAS, City of Saint Paul parks have been designated areas for children to host Lemonade Day stands on June 5, 2011; and
 
WHEREAS, lemonade is considered a non-potentially hazardous food; and
 
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute ยง 28A.15, Subdivision 9 allows an exemption from licensing for non-potentially hazardous food sold as part of a community event under certain conditions; now therefore be it
 
RESOLVED, that Lemonade Day, June 5, 2011 is considered a community event by the City of Saint Paul.
