Authorizing the Office of Financial Empowerment to accept a $550 gift in the form of gift cards from Target for a CollegeBound Saint Paul event.
Body
WHEREAS, the City established an Office of Financial Empowerment (the “Office”) within the Office of Financial Services; and
WHEREAS, the Office’s CollegeBound Saint Paul program is focused on newborns living in Saint Paul with the goal of building a college-bound identity and improving financial security outcomes for program participants and their families; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Financial Empowerment will be partnering with community organizations to build awareness of CollegeBound Saint Paul and pre-register expecting families through a community baby shower event; and
WHEREAS, the Office will be partnering with Open Cities to host the event and partner with additional organizations to invite families, and provide the first 25 families with a diaper bag with newborn essentials as well as an opportunity to be in a drawing for a carseat and stroller combo, which will be purchased with the gift provided by Target; and
WHEREAS, the goals and objectives of the community baby shower event aligns with the goals and objectives of CollegeBound Saint Paul outreach and engagement; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the City Charter and by receipt of the Target gift cards, certifies that there is available for appropriation funds of $550 in excess of those dedicated to CollegeBound Saint Paul in 2020; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul does hereby:
1. Authorize the Office to accept the Gift from Target in the amount of $550 for CollegeBound Saint Paul.
2. Adopt, upon recommendation of the Mayor, that $550 is available for appropriation to CollegeBound Saint Paul, supplemental appropriations as specified in the attached financial analysis form.
