Title

Authorizing the City to enter into a cooperative agreement with Ramsey County for the Maryland Avenue Corridor Study.

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is planning to reconstruct Maryland Avenue in 2028 between East Como Boulevard and Dale Street; and

WHEREAS, Ramsey County is planning infrastructure improvements to Maryland Avenue between Dale Street and Rice Street in 2029, with cost participation from the city; and

WHEREAS, Metro Transit has identified Maryland Avenue as an arterial bus rapid transit corridor for implementation of the H Line Metro alignment, with several preliminary stations to be located along Maryland Avenue in the corridor study area; and

WHEREAS, a variety of other issues require careful coordination for Maryland Avenue, including school access, pedestrian and transportation safety, utilities, and tree preservation, among other issues; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County have agreed to share the costs for the Maryland Avenue Corridor Study as outlined in the agreement; and

WHEREAS, the agreement contains a mutual indemnification clause, which the Council finds reasonable and appropriate; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the proper City Officials are hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City to enter into Ramsey County Agreement PUBW2026-03, a copy of which is before Council and is made a part hereof; and be it finally

 

RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the proper City Officials are authorized to execute the Agreement and any amendments to the Agreement.
