Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a sponsorship valued at $1,000 from Metro Transit to support Right Track’s Career Exploration Day.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation operates Right Track, the City’s Youth Employment and Training Program, which connects Saint Paul youth with meaningful work experience and career exploration opportunities; and
WHEREAS, Right Track will host Career Exploration Day at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium on Monday, March 23rd, with more than 800 youth and approximately 70 employers and vendors expected to attend; and
WHEREAS, Metro Transit has offered to sponsor transit passes from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on March 23rd, valued at $1,000, to reduce transportation barriers for participants; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that acceptance of this sponsorship serves a public purpose by supporting equitable access to youth employment opportunities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a $1,000 sponsorship from Metro Transit in support of Right Track’s Career Exploration Day.
