Title

Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Public Library Agency to apply for funds, in an amount up to $1,000,000, with no match required of the City, from Bloomberg Philanthropies for the Global Mayors Challenge to expand transportation options for young people via circulators throughout Saint Paul.

Body

 

WHEREAS, Bloomberg Philanthropies has published a Notice of Funding Availability for grants of up to $1,000,000 to help cities reimagine core resident-facing services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Saint Paul Public Library Agency have been identified as eligible to receive funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Library Agency wish to submit a grant proposal to support transportation support for afterschool and summer learning opportunities for youth; and

 

WHEREAS, there is no match requirement for said funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a public purpose in providing access to shared community programming and transportation throughout Saint Paul; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council authorizes the appropriate City officials to apply for the competitive Bloomberg Philanthropies, Mayors Challenge.
