Authorizing the Police Department to accept (and amend the 2023 Special Fund Budget for) a grant from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services of the United States Department of Justice.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department has been awarded $175,000 for a grant term through September 30, 2024 from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) FY23 Microgrants program; and
WHEREAS, this grant will be used to expand the SPPD’s recruitment and pathways programs; and
WHEREAS, this grant does not have a matching funds requirement; and
WHEREAS, a 2023 financing and spending plan needs to be established; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation total revenues in excess of those estimated in the budget, funds of $175,000 in the Police Department Special Fund; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor that $175,000 is available for appropriation in the Police Department Special Fund, as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the particulars as specified in the attached financial analysis.
