Title

Establishing the financing and spending plans in the Department of Parks and Recreation in the amount of $100,000, to reflect funds received from the Minnesota Twins to support youth baseball and softball.

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to accept a $100,000 contribution from the Minnesota Twins to support youth baseball and softball; and

 

WHEREAS, these funds will provide equipment and league fees for youth interested in playing baseball and softball; and

 

WHEREAS, there is no required match of these funds by the City; and

 

WHEREAS, said funds to provide baseball and softball free for all those in the baseball and softball programs 8U and up, and to provide the proper equipment to play, serves a public purpose; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept said funding and utilize the funding through the spending plan that has been developed; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to amend the Grant Fund budget to reflect this additional funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $100,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2026 Grant Budget; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of these funds to provide baseball and softball free for all those in the baseball and softball programs 8U and up, and to provide the proper equipment to play, serves a public purpose; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby authorizes acceptance of said funds and approves amendment to the 2026 Grant Budget.
