Authorizing the Fire Department to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the Minnesota Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue Team.
Body
WHEREAS, the cities of Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Rochester, and Edina and the Dakota County Domestic Preparedness Committee (collectively, the "Participants") wish to establish the Minnesota Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue Team for the purpose of establishing, training, equipping, maintaining, and deploying Minnesota Task Force One to incidents inside and outside of the State of Minnesota as may be requested by a local agency or other unit of government pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Sections 12.33, 12.331, 12.351, 192.89, or 192.91; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Section 471.59 authorizes such joint exercise of power if an agreement is entered into through the action of the governing bodies of the governmental units; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Joint Powers Agreement by and among the Participants, as attached hereto, will benefit the citizens of Saint Paul, and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute the attached Joint Powers Agreement.
