PRELIMINARY ORDER
In the matter of approving the construction of the Cherokee Regional Bicycle Trail project by installing a bicycle trail that will provide a continuous, shared use, paved 1.3-mile regional trail through Cherokee Regional Park and within city right-of-way to provide a connection for West Side residents to Downtown Saint Paul and adjacent regional trails along the Mississippi River, as described and depicted in Exhibit A attached hereto.
Also, to acquire property rights for the public purpose of assembling right-of-way necessary to reconstruct and narrow a portion of Ohio Street between Plato Boulevard and Cherokee Avenue for the installation of said bicycle trail, as depicted in Exhibit B attached hereto.
The Council of the City of Saint Paul, having received the report of the Mayor upon the above improvement, and having considered said report, hereby resolves:
1. That the said report is hereby approved, with no alternatives, and that the estimated cost thereof is $2,700,000, financed by project funds.
2. That a public hearing be held on said improvement on the 1st day of June, 2011 at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall and Court House Building in the City of Saint Paul.
3. That notice of said public hearing be given to the persons and in the manner provided by the Charter, stating the time and place of hearing, the nature of the improvement and the total cost thereof as estimated.

Funding for the acquisition of project costs includes: CIB Funds, Transportation Enhancements funding, Park Legacy Trail - DNR Grant, 2012 Legacy Funds.
