Accepting the gift of conference registration, hotel, and related expenses from the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), through a generous donation from the McKnight Foundation and other funders, for Assistant City Engineer and Division Manager of Street Engineering and Construction for Public Works, Steve Dodge, to attend NACTO’s Designing Cities Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, May 12-15, 2026.
WHEREAS, the conference is a four-day national NACTO conference hosted in Minneapolis, Minnesota, focused on multi-modal transportation planning and design to build cities as places for people by providing safe, sustainable, accessible, and equitable transportation options; and
WHEREAS, participants will examine 21st-century practices through active tours, learning sessions, and professional speaker sessions on urban mobility, policymaking, and street design practices that prioritize walking, biking, and transit, while advancing principles of transformative change, equity, community, and impact; and
WHEREAS, NACTO, with funding support from the McKnight Foundation and other funders, will cover all expenses, including travel, lodging, and meals; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that participation in the conference is beneficial to the city, as it allows the Public Works employee to gain knowledge and experience in transportation planning and design strategies that support walking, biking, and transit modes; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of travel, lodging, and meal expenses, and extends its thanks to the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), the McKnight Foundation, and other funders for their generous support.
