Approving a 2014 maximum property tax levy for the City of Saint Paul.

Body

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 10 of the City Charter, Mayor Coleman presented to the City Council on August 14, 2013 the Mayor's proposed budget; and in accordance with City ordinance, Mayor Coleman presented to the City Council on August 15, 2013 the Library Agency's proposed budget with the combined Mayor's proposed budget and the Library Agency's proposed budget totaling $510,872,142 for operations and $70,345,000 for capital improvements; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor has taken into consideration levy limits imposed by the State of Minnesota and will report on the use of special levies and adherence to levy limits in accordance with State law; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor did recommend, as part of the comprehensive 2014 financing plan for the City of Saint Paul, that the 2013 net property tax levy payable in 2014 be $101,207,822 as detailed below:

City Levy for Debt Service 11,949,160
City Levy for Library Agency 16,117,781
Total Recommended: 99,396,152

Levy for Port Authority 1,811,700
