Declaring April 8, 2015 as Steve "Moose" Younghans Day in the City of Saint Paul.

WHEREAS, Steven Carl Younghans is affectionately and universally known on the East Side as "Moose" for obvious reasons (if you've seen him), and;
WHEREAS, Moose proudly graduated from Johnson High School in 1974, and;
WHEREAS, Moose began coaching at the bantam hockey level on the East Side shortly after graduating from JHS, and has led teams to appear in more than ten state tournaments - winning at least three state championships, and;
WHEREAS, Moose has continued coaching hockey at the high school level at JHS for more than 20 years, and;
WHEREAS, through the medium of coaching both youth hockey and football, Moose has positively impacted the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of boys and young men over several decades, and;
WHEREAS, Moose is not just a coach. He is an amazing role model and mentor who teaches more than simply than athletic skills and a desire to win. He also models caring and compassion for his players and the broader community. He consistently and continually demonstrates his big heart and has become known affectionately to many as the "Benefit King," for his willingness to host many benefits and fund raisers in order to defray medical expenses and other kinds of needs, now;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council acknowledges the efforts of Coach Moose, and does hereby declare that Wednesday, April 8, 2015 be forever known in the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota as Steve "Moose" Younghans Day.
