Recognizing Chris Rider’s career with the City of Saint Paul and congratulating her on retirement.

WHEREAS, Chris spent her early years in Saint Paul’s Rice Street Neighborhood and where she made lifelong friends; and
WHEREAS, Chris learned about public service in childhood as the daughter of a City of Saint Paul Fire Fighter; and
WHEREAS, Chris has been an indispensable team member of a variety of departments with the City of Saint Paul and has an intrinsic knowledge of how the City operates; and
WHEREAS, Chris started her career with the City of Saint Paul in 1987 at the Saint Paul Police Department as a Police Stenographer; and
WHEREAS, Chris moved to the City Council offices in 1989, continuing her career as a member of Council Research; and
WHEREAS, Chris then worked as an Executive Assistant in Ward 5 for Councilmembers Karl Neid and Marie Grimm, and next transitioned to the Ward 3 office, working with Councilmembers Mike Harris and Pat Harris; and
WHEREAS, Chris was appointed to Mayor Chris Coleman’s Administration in 2006 as a Scheduler, and was appointed to Mayor Melvin Carter’s Administration in 2018 as a Senior Aide to Deputy Mayor Jamie Tincher; and
WHEREAS, Chris has been a tireless volunteer, giving her time to serve the Board of Twin Cities Academy, Girl scouts, Urban Wilderness Canoe Adventures, Spare Key Foundation, Serving Our Troops, and multiple Habitat for Humanity projects throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, Chris exemplifies hard work and public service, showing us that beyond the walls of City Hall, she continues to make a difference in our community as she was honored for that service by receiving the Karl Neid Award in 2014; and now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council thanks Chris Rider for her many years of dedicated public service to the people of Saint Paul; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, In honor of Chris’s years of public service to the City of St. Paul, April 22, 2022, will be known as ‘Chris Rider Day’ in...
