Amending the 2017 budget to establish a transition team budget for Mayor-elect Carter.
Body
WHEREAS, the results of the general election on November 7, 2017, dictate a transition from Mayor Coleman’s administration to Mayor-elect Carter's administration effective in January of 2018; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds a public purpose in an effective and thorough transition by providing the Mayor-elect sufficient access to information and resources of the City to make decisions on issues, personnel, and other matters relating to his executive duties prior to the date he officially assumes those duties; and
WHEREAS, as part of the transition, Mayor-elect Carter will seek input from members of the public who will serve on hiring committees; and
WHEREAS, providing food and beverages during the meetings enables them to take place efficiently and without disrupting work; and
WHEREAS, it is projected that there will be savings within the existing 2017 budget; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Charter Section 10.07.4, recommends the transfer of $75,000 of unencumbered appropriations from one department, office or agency to another; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the changes to the 2017 Budget as specified in the attached financial analysis.
