Authorizing Public Works to set the 2027 Solid Waste Service Fees. (to be laid over to December 2, 2026)
Body
WHEREAS, the City finances its organized solid waste management program by assessing individual property owners for the costs of the program utilizing Ramsey County’s solid waste management service charge authority under contract with the County; and
WHEREAS, the Solid Waste Service Fees cover the cost of program administration, illegal dumping collection, public space garbage containers and collection, cart maintenance and repair, vehicle and building loan payments, and other program expenses; and
WHEREAS, to continue financing the organized solid waste management program in 2027, the City Solid Waste Service Fee in 2027 shall remain at $43.50 per unit in residential buildings with one (1) to four (4) units, and be set at $11.11 per unit in residential buildings with five (5) or more units; and
WHEREAS, the Solid Waste Service Fees include the required State Solid Waste Management Tax; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby adopt the 2027 Solid Waste Service Fees as referenced above.
