Declaring Wednesday, February 29, 2012 as "Shout Out St. Kate's Day" in the City of Saint Paul.

WHEREAS, St. Catherine University, founded in 1905 as an institution of higher learning, is dedicated to educating women of all faiths and backgrounds to lead and influence; and
WHEREAS, this institution, with more than 5,200 students, today includes the nation's largest undergraduate college for women; and
WHEREAS, St. Kate's, with campuses in both St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, now boasts more than 37,000 alumnae, including those who have blazed new trails for women in government and the courts, in business and healthcare, and across all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, through its faculty, students, staff and alumnae, St. Kate's continues to have a profound effect in improving the quality of life of Minnesotans, Americans, and indeed people around the world; and
WHEREAS, continuing to combine academic excellence with a commitment to providing access to higher education - including many first-generation students - is an ongoing mission of St. Catherine University; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of St. Paul gives a hearty "shout out" to St. Catherine University, her faculty, students, staff, alumnae and friends, for their contributions to higher education and a commitment to the future workforce of the great city of St. Paul; and be it further
RESOLVED, that Wednesday, February 29, 2012, is
"Shout Out St. Kate's Day"
in the Great City of St. Paul, Minnesota.
