Designating December 3, 2014 as Sawie Nebo Day in the City of Saint Paul.

WHEREAS, Sawie Nebo has already been honored by Tuloko Inc, KMOJ Radio, and The Minneapolis/ St. Paul Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, Sawie Nebo immigrated to the United States from Liberia and has been a resident of Minnesota for more than 40 years. In 1983 Nebo partnered with James Nebo to form Rotan Inc., a company that is still operating today. In 1992 Sawie Nebo was a partner of Nebo Companies and subsequently formed Demetrios Incorporated ("Demetrios") on April 26, 1996; and
WHEREAS, Demetrios currently has 20 independent contractors, full time and part time employees that contribute to the tax base in the City of Saint Paul. During Sawie Nebo's 30 years of service he has been responsible for the creation of more than 125 good paying jobs. Sawie Nebo has provided business leadership, acumen and commitment to Ward 4, and the City of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, Demetrios is a dedicated retailer of beauty products and services in Ward 4; and operates Earths Beauty Supply located at 1453 University Avenue, and Blessings Salon located at 1451 University Avenue W, St. Paul, MN 55104, and;
WHEREAS, in order to continue to provide high quality services to the residents of Saint Paul and the broader community, Demetrios formed Blessings Salon during Light Rail Construction along University Avenue; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Wednesday, December 3, 2014, is Sawie Nebo day in the City of Saint Paul; and
AND, FINALLY, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby thanks Sawie Nebo for his 30 years of entrepreneurial service to the City and its residents.
