Accepting the gift of conference registration for the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) for Interim Fire Chief Greg Duren, Assistant Fire Chief Jeramiah Melquist, and Assistant Chief Tony Farina to participate in the Metro Chief Summit at the FDIC conference.

WHEREAS, the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) will be paying for the conference registration for Interim Fire Chief Greg Duren, Assistant Fire Chief Jeramiah Melquist, and Assistant Chief Tony Farina to participate in the Metro Chief Summit at the annual FDIC conference in Indianapolis, IN April 20-25, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Metro Fire Officers Leadership and Innovation Summit at the FDIC conference is the opportunity for the chiefs participate in peer-led presentations, round table discussions and solution provider briefings with chiefs and senior officers from Metropolitan Departments (300+ members); and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds participation in this conference beneficial to the City by allowing the Fire Department chiefs to network with peer senior leaders in Metropolitan departments to discuss innovation and collaboration in the fire service; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of the conference registration fees and thanks the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) for their generous gift.
