Title

Authorizing the Department of Safety Inspections to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota’s Fire Marshal Division regarding the enforcement of the Minnesota Fire Code to school inspections.

Body

WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul (“City”) and State of Minnesota’s Fire Marshal Division (“State”), collectively the “Parties” wish to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement (“Agreement”) to delegate the enforcement of the Minnesota Fire Code to school inspections from the State to the City;

WHEREAS, The City wishes to maintain its delegation agreement with the State Fire Marshal to avoid duplicative inspections, as the City remains responsible for conducting Fire Certificate of Occupancy inspections;

RESOLVED, That the City of Saint Paul, Department of Safety Inspections is authorized to enter into the attached Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Fire Marshal Division, to enforce the Minnesota Fire Code to schools within the City of Saint Paul.
