Authorizing the appropriate City officials to enter into the Violence Prevention Initiative Joint Powers Agreement with the Ramsey County Department of Public Health.
Body
WHEREAS, both Ramsey County and the City of Saint Paul have an interest in reducing gun violence; and
WHEREAS Healing Streets is an initiative of the Saint Paul - Ramsey County Public Health Department which takes a public health approach to addressing gun and group violence in communities through prevention, intervention, and healing; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor’s 2020 budget allocated $300,000.00 to be used to support Healing Streets; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Minnesota Statutes Section 471.59, two or more governmental units, by agreement entered into through action of their governing bodies, are authorized to enter into agreements to exercise jointly or cooperatively governmental powers common to each and to permit one governmental entity to perform services or functions for another governmental unit; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the appropriate city officials to enter into the attached Joint Power Agreement.
