Approving the renaming of Victoria Park to Brewer's Bluff Park.
Body
WHEREAS, approximately 40 acres of land was acquired by the City to be developed into a park located within Ward 2, District 9, between Adrian Street and Shepard Road, west of Otto Ave and east of Montreal Way; and
WHEREAS, the interim name for the site has been “Victoria Park” for over 10 years and refers to the master plan for the neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Road Federation brought forward the name of “Quarry Farm Park” to Parks Commission in 2018; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission requested additional community engagement on the naming process; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Road Federation has re-engaged the naming process; and
WHEREAS, the park requires an officially recognized name that can be posted on its identity signage and used on City maps and location reference materials; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Road Federation has reviewed names according to the criteria set forth in the Parks Commission naming policy PC.7; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Road Federation has requested to change the name to Brewer’s Bluff Park reflecting the history and identity of Saint Paul’s West 7th neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, by Commission Resolution #26-11, the Commission recommended approval at their September 10, 2026 meeting; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves the renaming of Victoria Park to Brewer’s Bluff Park.
