Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept donations from community partners for a community gathering to be held at the Oxford Community Center and Jimmy Lee Rec Center on Saturday, December 18, 2010.

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreations has partnered with Councilmember Melvin Carter to host a community gathering for Ward 1 residents at the Oxford Community Center and Jimmy Lee Recreation Center on Saturday, December 18, 2010 ; and
WHEREAS, General Mills, the Childrens Museum, the Science Museum of Minnesota, Penumbra Theatre, SteppingStone Theatre, Xcel Energy, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Franchise Food Systems of Minnesota have graciously donated passes for their facilities or products to be given away at the aforementioned community gathering; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council on behalf of the citizens of Saint Paul, accepts the gifts given and appropriates it to the public purpose of providing families with the opportunity to enjoy activities that the City has to offer; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City Council determines this to have public purpose and the Council extends its thanks and appreciation to the aforementioned sponsors for their generosity and public service in this matter.
