Accepting reimbursement of air transportation and hotel costs from the National Democratic Institute for Mayor Coleman to attend a conference from May 30 to June 3, 2011 concerning democratic practices and electoral reform.

WHEREAS, the National Democratic Institute has invited Mayor Coleman to attend a conference in Serbia from May 30 to June 3, 2011, in the spirit of sharing and exploring democratic values and understanding democratic and electoral processes; and
WHEREAS, the National Democratic Institute will reimburse the city for travel and expenses to not exceed $1,300; and
WHEREAS, The National Democratic Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government, and the Mayor will have a great deal to learn from and contribute towards improving democratic processes at this forum; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts the gift of conference lodging and air travel and appropriates it to the intended use for the Mayor to attend the conference, and thanks the National Democratic Institute for its gift of travel reimbursement.
