Accepting the Gift of Airfare and Lodging from the W.K Kellogg Foundation to Support Deputy Mayor Kristin Beckmann's Participation in the Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Partnership Working Summit

WHEREAS, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation is launching a national and community-based multi-year process designed to engage communities in racial healing and to identify short- and long-term strategies for meaningful change; and
WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Foundation has been invited to apply to become one of 10 cities to participate in the Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Partnership; and
WHEREAS, if selected, The Saint Paul Foundation would be asked to lead a design team of up to 15 multi-sector representatives to participate in an initial working summit on December 5-9, 2016 in Carlsbad, California; and
WHEREAS, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation will provide airfare and a portion of the hotel expenses for each of the participants; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Deputy Mayor Kristin Beckmann has been invited to be a member of the design team; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Mayor Beckmann’s participation in this initiative will support both the on-going racial equity work being undertaken by the City of Saint Paul as well as the larger community conversation around racial healing; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby accepts the gift of airfare and lodging, up to $1,300, from the W.K Kellogg Foundation and thanks the Foundation for its generosity.
