Accepting the gift of travel, food, and lodging expenses for Peter Grafstrom to attend the Education Policy Advisors Network (E-PAN) Convening hosted by the National League of Cities.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Peter Grafstrom, City of Saint Paul’s Education Policy Director, has been invited to participate at the Education Policy Advisors Network (EPAN) Convening hosted by the National League of Cities to be held in Phoenix, AZ on May 4th through 6th, 2016; and

 

WHEREAS; the National League of Cities has been an excellent partner and champion for the interests and betterment of Saint Paul and our fellow cities; and

 

WHEREAS; working in partnership, EPAN and its participating cities support initiatives that help move our cities towards true racial equity through educational opportunity for all; and

 

WHEREAS; the EPAN Convening is funded by a partnership of the Ford Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, and the Wallace Foundation; and

 

WHEREAS, the Nationall League of Cities Education Policy Advisors Network has invited 33 cities, including the City of Saint Paul, to share knowledge about successful education programs and offered to pay up to $1,000 towards the cost of Peter Grafstrom’s travel, food and lodging expenses; and

 

WHEREAS, attendance at the meeting will provide an opportunity to learn how EPAN cities are exploring new ways of supporting out-of-school-time learning, collaborating with schools, colleges, and universities; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the offer to cover travel, food and lodging expenses up to $1,000 for Peter Grafstrom to attend the convening and explore the opportunities for Saint Paul and thanks to the National League of Cities for their generous gift.
