Accepting $15,000 in Fair Housing Assistance Partner Partnership Funds for enhanced education and outreach from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

WHEREAS, the Department of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity (HREEO) is a fully certified by HUD as Fair Housing Assistance Partner (FHAP) Agency; and
WHEREAS, in May 2016 HUD made 2016 FHAP Partnership Funds available for Enhanced Education and Outreach “to persons residing in the geographic area served by the FHAP agency, as well as to persons and entities subject to the agency’s fair housing law;” and
WHEREAS, HREEO indicated its willingness to receive these funds and submitted a Statement of Work outlining the intended use of the funds; and
WHEREAS, HUD accepted this Statement of Work and made the outreach funds available; and
WHEREAS, the Human Rights Division of HREEO has and will use these funds to educate the public address and issues of discrimination as outlined by Chapter 183 of the Legislative Code; and
WHEREAS, these funds were not recognized in the 2016 budget; and
WHEREAS, in order to carry out the functions outlined in the Statement of Work, the 2017 budget needs to be amended to recognize these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the City Charter, does certify that there are funds of $15,000 available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2017 budget; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts these HUD Partnership Funds and authorizes the Department of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity to receive these funds and use them consistent with HUD’s approved uses.
