Title

Approving a Special Law enacted by the Minnesota State Legislature during the 2019 1st Special Session that increased the allowable rate of the supplemental hotel and motel tax from three to four percent.

 

Body

WHEREAS, during the 2019 1st Special Session of the Minnesota Legislature, the State of Minnesota enacted Minnesota Session Laws 2019, 1st Special Session, Chapter 6, Article 6, Section 6, which increased the allowable rate on the supplemental tax on the gross receipts from the furnishing for consideration of lodging and related services at a hotel, rooming house, tourist court, motel, or resort, other than the renting or leasing of space for a continuous period of 30 days or more from three to four percent; and

WHEREAS, the Special Law requires the City of Saint Paul to comply with Minnesota Statutes Section 645.021, which requires approval by resolution of a majority vote of all members of the governing body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, that the above-refenced Special Law pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 645.021 and the provisions contained herein, is in all things adopted and approved; and be it

FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City Clerk, as the chief clerical officer of the City of Saint Paul, is directed to prepare and file with the Secretary of State, in a form prescribed by the Attorney General, a certificate stating the essential facts necessary to the adoption and approval of this law in compliance with Minnesota Statutes Section 645.021, Subdivision 3.
