Amending the budget in the Department of Public Works by establishing a Financing and Spending Plan for an OSHA Safety Grant in the amount of $8,500.00.
Body
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota, Department of Labor and Industry, Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Unit has grants available for safety related expenditures; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works recognizes the potential serious hazards from lifting large equipment in the Municipal Equipment Garage; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works is very concerned about the possibility of serious injury to personnel or severe damage to equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has already budgeted for the purchase of the column hoist in 2010; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works Municipal Equipment activity has applied for and received notification of approval for a $8,500 grant to purchase the column hoist system and provide column hoist installation and training; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council on behalf of the City hereby authorizes the acceptance of the State of Minnesota, Department of Labor and Industry, Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Unit grant funding for the installation and training of the column hoist system and hereby approves these changes to the 2010 budget.
