Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a $96,000 agreement with Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Conservation Partners Legacy grant program, requiring a ten percent in-kind match, to enhance and restore 23 acres of native woodland habitat at Swede Hollow Park.

WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul has been awarded a $96,000, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (State), Lessard-Sams Conservation Partners Legacy (CPL) grant to enhance 23 acres of native woodland habitat at Swede Hollow Park; and

WHEREAS, this program requires a ten percent match of non-state funds, all matching funds will be in the form of in-kind staff and community volunteer labor; and

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that accepting these grant funds will allow Parks and Recreation to fulfill ecological principles of habitat restoration; and

WHEREAS, the expenditure of public funds for such a purpose will facilitate and enable it to take place; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that designated Parks and Recreation staff are hereby authorized enter into an agreement with the State to accept the funds on behalf of the City.

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to amend the Grant Fund budget to reflect this additional funding; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $96,000 more than those estimated in the current Grant Budget; now, therefore, be it
