Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to execute agreements with the Metropolitan Council, which include an indemnification clause, to accept Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment grant funds for multiple City projects.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation applied for and has received grant funding from the Metropolitan Council for the Education Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, and Great River Passage Division positions; the Como Regional Park Shuttle Bus; Robert Piram Regional Trail; Indian Mounds, Lilydale, and Phalen Regional Parks; and Trout Brook Regional Trail; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant agreements require the City to defend and indemnify the Metropolitan Council as a condition of receiving the grant funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a public purpose in providing environmental education and the betterment of our parks facilities and trails and that acceptance of the grant funding will enable continued staffing and the installation of new trails and amenities; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby authorizes that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to execute agreements with the Metropolitan Council, which include an indemnification clause, to accept and implement said grant funds.
