Title

Authorizing the City to enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation for Active Transportation funding for the Lafayette Trail Connection Project.

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has a project to construct a multiuse trail for bicyclists and pedestrians along the East Lafayette Frontage Road to connect the Lafayette Bridge to the Robert Piram Regional Trail; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works applied for an Active Transportation Grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) for the Lafayette Trail Connection Project as authorized by Council Resolution 22-1877; and

 

WHEREAS, Council Resolution Public Hearing 23-341 accepted the grant and added the grant funding to the project budget; and

 

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Transportation has given notice that funding for this project is available, and the amount of the grant has been determined to be $262,339.40 by reason of the lowest responsible bid; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul does hereby agree to the terms and conditions of the grant consistent with Minnesota Statutes, section 174.38, and will pay any additional amount by which the cost exceeds the estimate and will return to the Active Transportation Account any amount appropriated for the project but not required; and be it further

 

RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the proper City Officials are hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City to enter into MnDOT Agreement No.1060969, a copy of which is before Council and is made a part hereof; and be it finally

 

RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the proper City Officials are authorized to execute the Agreement and any amendments to the Agreement.
