Authorizing the Police Department to accept two (2) donations from the Saint Paul Police Foundation totaling $22,000 and amending the 2026 grant budget and adding activity budget to support recognition of honor guard volunteers and the 2027 Women's Leadership Conference.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to support the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) by enabling public-private partnerships that support officer wellness, training and community outreach, ensuring that public safety remains a high priority; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation Grants Committee reviewed SPPD requests and has unanimously supported two (2) with donations totaling $22,000 which do not include any match requirement; and
WHEREAS, the first funding initiative includes $10,000 for the Honor Guard Annual Sustainment Funding recognizing the dedication of the honor guard volunteers in representing the St. Paul Police Department at important ceremonies and events throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, the second funding initiative includes $12,000 to support the 2027 Women’s Leadership Conference sponsored by the Saint Paul Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the 2026 financing and spending plans need to be amended, and activity budget added for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $22,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2026 budget; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor, accepts the donation from the Saint Paul Police Foundation and approves these changes to the 2026 budget as amended on the attached financial analysis.
