Approving the agreement between the Saint Paul Fire Department and Xcel Energy for use of a wind turbine for technical rescue training.

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department has determined a need for technical rescue training using a wind turbine at Xcel Energy’s Grand Meadow Wind Farm, 228 Industrial Park Drive, Dexter MN 55926; and
WHEREAS, the rescue training consists of high angle rescue and rope access rescue training; and
WHEREAS. Xcel is willing to allow use of its site for the training but requires that the City indemnify Xcel for actions arising from the use of the site; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that training Saint Paul firefighters for rescue work has a public purpose and that indemnification will allow the training to take place; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the appropriate city officials to enter into the attached Agreement with Xcel Energy for use of the Grand Meadow Wind Farm, which contains an indemnification clause.
