Approving updated rules and regulations for the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Body
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Legislative Code § 170.10(b) authorizes the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation to establish reasonable rules for the use of the park system and those rules must be approved by the City Council by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, in working with frontline staff from recreation services and young people, determined that there was need for updated regulations for the use of park spaces, specifically recreation center facilities; and
WHEREAS, Department management staff and the City Attorney’s Office have reviewed and made necessary changes to the updated Rules and Regulations; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Commission (“Commission”), an appointed body established to advise the Mayor and City Council on long-range and city-wide matters related to the Department of Parks and Recreation (“Department”), unanimously approved the amendment on December 12, 2024; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that Saint Paul City Council approves the updated version of the Rules and Regulations attached.
