Title

Amending the 2026 spending and financing budgets in the Department of Public Works Asphalt Plant Accounting Units to fund the purchase of a Skid Steer Loader.

Body

WHEREAS, the department of Public Works Asphalt Plant division is responsible for producing a variety of asphalt mixes to support street maintenance, repair, and construction operations throughout the City of Saint Paul; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works Asphalt Plant requires a skid steer loader to efficiently support and maintain daily operations and plant production, including loading, handling, movement of materials and equipment, and other operational functions; and

 

WHEREAS, the existing skid steer loader has reached the end of its useful service life, requires frequent repairs, or is no longer adequate to meet operational demands; and

 

WHEREAS, acquiring a new skid steer loader is necessary to maintain safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations at the Public Works Asphalt Plant; and

 

WHEREAS, the New 2026 John Deere 320G Skid Steer Loader 00B2T is expected to cost $37,549.30 per the vendor’s (John Deere) quote; and

 

WHEREAS, there are anticipated savings within the 2026 spending budget in the Public Works Asphalt Plant Accounting Units that are sufficient to fund the purchase without increasing the division’s overall budget; therefore via

 

ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER, consistent with the authority granted to the Mayor in Section 10.07.4 of the City Charter, and upon the request of the Director of the Public Works Department to amend the 2026 budget in the Department of Public Works Asphalt Plant Accounting Units, the Office of Financial Services is authorized to amend the 2026 budget, as detailed in the attached Financial Analysis, to reallocate existing appropriations and provide funding for the purchase of a new skid steer loader.
