Accepting a gift of $580,461 from The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library and amending the Library’s 2026 Financing and Spending Plans.

WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Public Library Agency is currently undergoing a multi-year, public-private partnership project titled Transforming Libraries to renew three well-loved and well-worn libraries and updated technology and play and learn spaces across its locations; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Public Library Agency will receive a donation of $580,461 from The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, a Minnesota nonprofit organization, to be directed to the Transforming Libraries Project; and
WHEREAS, specifically, the money will be used to increase budgeted spending for the renovation of the Hayden Heights library, Play and Learn and space development at Sun Ray and Rondo libraries, and Technology Rich Transformations at the Rondo and George Latimer Central libraries as outlined in the Transforming Libraries Project plan; and
WHEREAS, the financing and spending plans for these funds has not been established; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 10.7.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, the Mayor does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $580,461 in excess of those estimated in the 2026 budget; now, therefore, be
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Public Library Agency’s 2026 budget, as heretofore adopted by the Library Board, is hereby amended as indicated in the attached fiscal analysis form; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Library Board thanks The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library for its generous gift.
