Accepting the gift of travel expenses from the Global Philanthropy Partnership, McKnight Foundation, TransitCenter Foundation as well as other funders for City Engineer Nick Peterson to attend the Proximity, Affordability, & Livability Study Tour from April 27-May 2 in the Netherlands.

WHEREAS, the tour is a five-day immersion in Utrecht, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam as leading examples of compact, connected, and climate-resilient cities; and
WHEREAS, Participants will examine how each city ensures that housing, work, schools, shops, healthcare, parks, and transit are close at hand while keeping living costs manageable through car-light design, shared mobility, and affordable housing patterns; and
WHEREAS, the Global Philanthropy Partnership, McKnight Foundation, and TransitCenter Foundation will fund all expenses including travel, lodging, and meals; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds the participation in the study tour beneficial to the City by allowing the Public Works employee to experience and learn about Dutch practices and strategies for proximity and affordability, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of the cost of travel, lodging, and meal expenses and thanks the Global Philanthropy Partnership, McKnight Foundation, and TransitCenter Foundation for their generous gift.
