Authorizing the City of Saint Paul to re-grant $90,000 in funds received from the Saint Paul Foundation and F.R. Bigelow Foundation to Great River Passage Conservancy fiscal agent PROPEL to support the mission of the GRP Conservancy.
Body
WHEREAS, the Great River Passage is both the 17 miles of the Mississippi River that flows through and defines St. Paul and a City led Initiative to enhance, better connect to and steward the Mississippi RIver, one of the three great rivers of the world, and its surrounding natural and built environments; and
WHEREAS, the GRP Conservancy is an independent 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to work with partners to further connect the Saint Paul community and region to its valued civic amenity, the Mississippi River; and
WHEREAS, the City Great River Passage Initiative applied for and received $90,000 seed monies from the Saint Paul Foundation and F.R. Bigelow Foundation to be used to create the Conservancy but because it could not be used for that purpose, the Foundations agreed that the City should hold the money and transfer it to the GRP Conservancy once it was established; and
WHEREAS, the Great River Passage Conservancy Founding Board has legally established the Great River Passage Conservancy January 2019 and contracted with PROPEL for Nonprofits as a fiscal agent, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul is hereby authorized to re-grant $90,000 in funds received from the Saint Paul Foundation and F.R. Bigelow Foundation to the Great River Passage Conservancy fiscal agent PROPEL to support the mission of the GRP Conservancy.
