Approving an extension of Mara Humphrey's term on the Board of Water Commissioners.
Body
WHEREAS, pursuant to Saint Paul City Charter § 15.03 and Saint Paul Legislative Code § 103.10, the Board of Water Commissioners is composed of seven (7) members: three (3) members of the city council serving for terms coincident with their elected terms of office, two (2) members who are resident citizens of Saint Paul who hold no other city office or city employment, and two (2) members who are resident citizens of a suburb or suburbs whose water system is owned by the board, appointed as provided in the applicable water extension agreements with the suburb(s); and
WHEREAS, in RES 22-1220, Mara Humphrey was reappointed to serve a third four-year term as a resident-citizen commissioner on the Board of Water Commissioners, with a term ending August 31, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Mara Humphrey has agreed, to continue serving as a commissioner on the Board of Water Commissioners beyond August 31, 2026, in order to avoid a vacancy on the Board and to preserve continuity and quorum while a successor is identified and confirmed;
WHEREAS, Mayor Kaohly Her wishes to extend Mara Humphrey’s current term through December 31, 2026; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves to extend Mara Humphrey's current term as a commissioner on the Board of Water Commissioners through December 31, 2026.
